as some might have scene in my other post i've taken a interest in large bore guns i'm just wondering if there is a affordable maker of 2 bore 4 bore or even 8 bore hammer rifles?

Depends on what your definition of affordable is. Every part would have to be designed, handmade and tested down to the casings and projectiles. Quality work of this grand scale won't come cheap. There was another gunnut would took on this same project a while back and had it posted here. Good luck.

"...affordable..." That depends on your definition of affordable. They're collector grade, BP cartridge guns mostly and they're extremely rare. You should think in terms of 5 figures minimum. No hunting with them in Ontario at least. You'd have it just to say you do.

For those who aren't familiar with the big black powder rounds, here's a pic of a 4 bore cartridge. Truely big medicine

Good Grief!!!! I want one, you never know when you might have to shoot a herd of Mastodons

You'll need one essential item from the old days: a GUN BEARER (maybe two.) And a chiropractor.

There is an article on the 4-bore on the African Hunter website:
http://www.african-hunter.com/4-bore_part_i.htm

And there is a clip of a fellow shooting one on YouTube:

Now... you're sure you still want to go ahead with this?

They are fun to shoot for recreation and there goof for large moose and moskox grizz... and other very big game def... a humane kill.

A lot of people that want into the REAL big bore game aren't really aware of what it entails. A nice cartridge 4 bore is worth about $150,000, to start. It is also wholy impractical for hunting anything outside of Elephant, Hippo, Rhino, and Cape Buffalo at 30 yards or less. Still, I'd have one on the rack if I didn't need to pay for my house... Actually no I wouldn't, a .500 Nitro would do just fine. :)

I have fired a double 4 bore rifle, it weighs 24 pounds and the load was 400 grains of 2 F black powder with a 1850 grain bullet. I fired it twice and hit the target both shots but I think another 2 shots in the same day would be to much with out much practice. My 8 bore muzzleloader is enough recoil after 5 or 6 shots in a row.

Here is some picture of the 8 compared to a Thompsen 45 cal and both rifles weigh about the same
