Hey I was just wondering what exactly we can get away with as far as
barrel length. When I took my PAL course the instructor said that the
gov. is sticky about that 0.1 of an inch. But I have noticed that most
of the double action revolvers that I like are 4 inch and then they jump to 5 or
6 inches after that. Can we purchase the 4 inchers or are we stuck with getting the long versions.
Thanks for any info

Sorry, any 6 shooters at 4" are prohibited. 106mm is the cutoff. If you REALLY want a short barreled revolver, you can always get the longer barreled version and have a smith chop the barrel.

106mm is the minimum barrel length for handguns.

106 mm for restricted handguns, , under 106 are prohibited handguns. The real #### of it is that the CFC only recognizes what the makers claim the barrel length to be, unless it has been rebarrelled.
I have been fighting with them for a few years now on a Colt King Cobra I own which has a full 109mm barrel from factory. They refuse to change its status from prohib to restricted based on the fact it is " unaltered from factory" and Colt claims the barrels were either 4" or 6"

Contrary to what has been stated, anything 105 mm and shorter (around 4 1/4") is prohibited. 106 is not a factor, (except of course that it is OK, as is 110, 147, 200....and 105.00002mm :)

That's whacked!. I know at one point the local registrar was suprised to find a fair number of suposedly 101mm Model 10's were in fact just over the 105mm mark. Never heard of an issue with them being registered.
