Whole front sight wiggles about .25. Front protectors have a screw but the clamp underneath with the blade attatched has a pin. This appears to be what is movinf. Suggestions?

Hi Dudley,

A picture would help. I wonder if your front sight is "normal", because IIRC the front sight base slides on bosses on the barrel, so for the whole front sight to rotate from one side to the other, the bosses would need to have been machined off... as far as I understand anyways,

There should be zero movement of the front sight block on the barrel. Movement will not allow a consistent sight picture to say nothing of the vibrations caused by a loose block which is runinous to accuracy. The block is a tight fit on the barrel lugs or "bosses". Either the lugs have been altered or the cross pin which secures the block to the barrel has been reduced or changed. If the lugs are still on the barrel you could dimple the surface of the barrel around it's circumference and the surfaces of the lugs with a prick punch to get a tight, drive-on fit. Tough to know just how to fix this w/o eyes on it.
