Heard them howling right when I opened the truck door 10minutes before daylight.

Walked out behind the barn to a good look out spot and started with my hand calls

Few barks and howls on the handcall I seen 3 running in within 5minutes of first call. I got 2 out of the 3 at about 180 and 240 yards before they got downwind. Just watched the 3rd run past the barn towards the cattle so I didn't shoot that way.

Look back north and two more are sitting at 600 yards looking around. They could smell the other ones i think so they are looking around. I did some muffled pup distress on my handcall real quiet as it was dead calm no wind.

Instantly they get up and start to come in. Shoot the lead one at 320 yards as they did not like something and looked like they would leave. Watched its mate go into the bush.

Figured that was it so I started dragging them back to my initial set up. Got the 3rd back and I see that one coyote come back out and sit down almost where I seen him go in.

He seen me dragging, so I just sat down and calmed my breathing for at least 5 minutes. He didn't move, Just sat like a dog looking right at me. Best my range finder could do was mark something close at 470 yards. Aimed 2 feet over his head and touched off and he was dead before I looked over the scope. I ranged my set up when I got to him and it was 482 yards. My farthest shot yet.

Farmer is at the barn and heard me shooting so he would look but only seen me walking away from the barn empty handed. Finally 1.5hours later I had all 4 back to my set up and he brought the tractor over to help. I was so thankful and that drag wore me out. Lol we were both pretty happy.

What do you do with them after? Is thebfir worth keeping?
I took them all home prepared to skin them and didn't notice that two of them have mange. Their bellies and underside was almost complete bare and the neck had just the start of it.

The biggest one is the nicest so I skinned him and fleshed it and got it on salt now. Farmer wants one to hang in the barn so I'll tan it for him.

Gave the third away to a local guy he skin's them. Too bad they are worthless to send away now.
