was just curious if anyone has ever tried the 4-round AA manufactured .50 Beowulf mags? I have only ever seen or heard of the 10-rounders that must be pinned to five rounds. Wouldn't ordering/importing (through the proper channels of course) the 4-round mags be a simpler process just because they already comply with the 5-round semi requirement without any modification?

Thery work fine, but a LAR pistol mag has almost the same capacity as a 4 rounder and is available here. Many people prefer the 5/10 as they are full length and can be handled easily in competition.
 
rivets are not the issue alexander arms is backordered for a long time now and will not import until AA finishes backorders from US, thats my understanding

Ya, I wasn't sure on the length, so that makes sense. How similar to the LAR would you say? 11-12rds?
 
This may be a dumb question, but why are AA Beo mags so popular / back-ordered in the US?

Are there similar "loopholes" in the various states that ban "high" (regular) capacity magazines?

I cant see the 50 Beowulf being *that* popular of a calibre in the US otherwise...

I agree with Phat Eagle.
Get LARs if you just want to plink. They are available here and cheaper. But if you want to PLAY, then get the 10rd ones. I would recommend Magpuls on them as they are quite smooth and hard to get out of your pouch quickly.
 
I *think* the 10 rounds Beowulf mags are particularly popular in CA, CT, MA, MD and DC as they all limit rifles to 10 rounds... Apparently the calibre of bullets placed into the mags is the responsibility of the End User... I'm not 100% on that though... All I know is they're apparently very difficult to come by, and often require dipping into the secondary market (e.g.: GunBroker)...

There are similar regulations and laws pertaining to magazine restrictions. There is no such "loopholes". I personally would rather use the LAR mags. More bang for your buck.

As of March 2014, Washington, D.C.and eight U.S. states have high-capacity magazine restrictions or bans.

California
Colorado
Connecticut
Hawaii(on handguns only)
Maryland
Massachusetts
New Jersey
New York

In Maine, there is a 5-cartridge limit on auto-loading firearms for hunting.

In Virginia, high-capacity magazines are not banned, but a semi-automatic, center-fire rifle or pistol with a magazine able to hold more than 20 rounds is considered an "assault firearm" and subject to restriction.

They are standard 10 round mag tubes. The reason you can fit an extra round or two in, is because AA shortens the legs on the followers to allow them to tilt a little more. These are readily available, but not worth the trouble.

A 10 rounder that's pinned is not only easier to handle, but it can be pinned at 5.9 rds of .50cal as long as the 6th doesn't fit.
Picking up what I'm putting down? 4 or 5.9 it's up to you, but I love hearing the gong constantly ringing.
