With Vivaldi as my "inspiration", I set up a 4 Seasons shooting project aimed at long range hunting and target shooting. My project started with a used Savage F/TR, to which I added many custom componenets, including a stock which I finished myself. Here's what it looks like:

Savage target action(from the original F/TR)
Base Near Mfg. 12 MOA
Alphamount Near Mfg
Telescope S&B 5-25x56mm PMII P4LF
Stock SSS LV/T, ajustable cheek piece, front rail for bipod, bedded with Devcon 10110, Hiviz Xcoil pad, epoxy/Tru-oil finish
Barrel 338 Edge Brux 30", 1/9.5 twist, Near Mfg muzzlebreak.
Barrel Savage 308 Win original 30", 1/12 twist
Barrel 6mmBr Norma Brux 30", 1/8" twist

The original Savage 308 barrel is good for .5 MOA to 500 yds. I'm anxious for the next step which is an OCW test with the Brux 338 Edge and 250grs Accubond.

Moosetracker, that thing makes me jealous!!
Where did you get your spare bolt from? I am looking to do something similar but am having trouble finding boltheads in particular.

Sharpshootersupply used to ship everything they had except barrels to Canada, and they have it all. Now they won't ship anything north.

Sucks.

Is that a magnum bf bolt beside the rifle? I was thinking of doing something like this for 223 and 243, but I would be more fun to just have 2 rifles...hehe.

Actually, the magnum bolt face is on the rifle for the 338 Edge barrel. If you install a magnum bolt head assembly on a 223 or 308 bolt you need to do one of two things. First you need a magnum bolt head assembly which is a little longer then either the 223 or 308 bolt head. As a result, you need either a longer firing pin for the magnum or a shorter bolt head assembly. In my case, I got the ladder, machined by Fred Moreo of Sharp Shooter Supply.

So you didn't just find another magnum bolt faced bolt from a Stevens or something? I personally would have gone that route, unless it wouldn't have worked for some reason.

I love the stock... I am looking for that type for my f/tr where did you get it from?

Andrew,
he got it from Sharp Shooter Supply in the US. Excellent products, I have dealt with them a few times. I have the same stock floating around in the ether somewhere. Ordered it December 12th 2009. It was to be 8 weeks. I checked in after a little over ten weeks. It was to be another 8 weeks. I checked in in June to find it had been nabbed at the US border because all paper work was not upto snuff. The story gets a little too elaborate from here but I have no clue when I will see my stock.

BTW, the above is not a rant, just an amusing anecdote of what can happen. I will be ordering from SSS again if they get their paper work sorted.

Obtunded mentioned a Canadian supplier of similar stocks several weeks ago. It was posted in a thread started by Magnumpeanut on his own SSS stocked 7mm. I'l post the link if I can find it. He also mentioned carl bernosky.com in the same thread.

I contacted Sharp Shooter Supply they won't even export if you have a permit because they aren't setup to export :(

Warrenb;
Was the company in Canada Robertsons Composites? I am thinking of getting them to make me one if i can sell my Remington 700 stock and comp 1911 barrel

Andrew,
I found the link, it was Chris Wilcox in Cherryville BC. I have never seen the stocks myself but Ian mentioned they made a similar laminate. I may well end up giving him a call to see what he has.
