40 0r 45

Different recoil pulse. Different in costs as well. 40s I've found to be much more "snappier" as a round, regardless of gun used. .45s have a more "thump" and "push" into your palm than a .40 does. I own both, and enjoy both, but for different reasons.

I like them both how ever my .40 kicks like a .45 with my new loads and it shoots a little nicer and more snappy. I started shooting .45 but now prefer .40

Hey I shoot 9! Come to think of it I like to wear my wife's underwear when she's not around.

I shoot 45 too. Different but both great calibres. 9mm for ODPL day in day out and 45 for guest appearances.

I shoot 9mm mostly, and for a change I shoot 45 - I could never really see the point of 40 cal, if you want big bullets, use a 45; if you want to be able to shoot quickly and accurately, shoot a 9mm. I guess the correlation to 40 cal is "if you want to wear your gun out quickly, shoot 40?"

.40 gets a bad rap...personally I like it with 185's. It's a higher pressure round then the .45, I don't find it hard to handle in an all steel gun. Feels a little much in plastic guns....but even 9mm I find snappy in those. After shooting it for about a year now I'm sold on it as a respectable round...accurate enough and hits pretty hard.

both are great man. Real issue for most, is that .45 has become very expensive as factory or reloading. Other than that, you gotta shoot them both in various guns and pick what's best for you. NO one here can just pick one gun or caliber for you. That said, I love 1911's.

Man up. Get a .50AE DEagle. But I like my collection of .40's, not much more expensive than 9mm (at least where I get it, Wood Joynt in Brandon, heavily recommend) and as mentioned above a heavier gun really absorbs the recoil.

I have had both a P-14/45 LTD and a P-16/40 LTD. I must say I enjoyed shooting the 45 abit more than the .40. Plus I think I was slightly more accurate with the .45. I still have the .40 but it may be going up on the block soon. Regrettably sold the 45 a while ago. Might need to find another.
