40 gr V-Max with Rem SPS Varmint = Laser!

Yesiree, spent the day shooting gophers. For the shorter ranges, I used my 17 HMR. The longest (paced) range was with the 223. 288 yards. A perfect "splut". Most shots were the smaller young'ins at about 125 yards or so.

My loads = 40 gr V-Max with 26.5 gr of Win 748 and CCI 450 (magnum) primers. I guess it does help that the barrel is 26" long and heavy. Sweet, straight shooting little pills indeed.

Anybody else got any sweet loads with the 223 to share?

I also have great success with 40gr vmax but with 27gr of varget and col 2.260". Shoots right around 1.3-1.5" at 200. Had real good luck with 53gr vmax and 25.7gr varget. 53gr vmax and 28gr cfe223 col 2.392", 60gr berger fb varmint 27gr varget col 2.394" I have others but those are some of my favorites so far. Use with caution also always work up.
