I have read that some people have had success with using 40 cal mags in their counterpart 9mm models, glocks, berettas, sigs etc.

Has anyone any experience of using 40 browning hi power mags successful.

I know some people say that the feed lips need adjustment and this automatically renders it a no go for increased capacity, legally speaking.

I haven't tried it myself, but I've read that feeding problems are a very common result - which shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.
Why were you thinking about buying some 40 S&W mags for your Browning? I can't imagine those are very cheap.

I've not seen it with a BHP mag either. Only one I've seen done is with a Glock. My observations is using a Glock .40 mag pinned to 10 will allow reliable cycling of 9mm but the made to 10 only .40 mags don't work so well. The 9mm rds pop out when aggressively shaken.

My M&P 9 would not cycle the last 2-3 rounds out of a .40 mag reliably...which sort of defeats the purpose of using the .40 mag in the first place.

any one have experiance with M&P40 mags in a M&P9

Manually cycling, 9mm will feed into and eject out of my m&p9 using a m&p.40 mag. Due to the follower sitting higher it will lock the slide on the 12th and last round. I have yet to live fire it so we shall see if I have the same results that Ganderite had, I'll have to manually release the slide if they feed and run like normal so it probably won't be worth switching to .40 mags in the long run.

I have a Hi Power 40. Here's the best answer you're going to get.

Consequently. I think I'm going to buy a few magazines form Brownells.. Thanks for the heads up!!!!

I don't see the reason to do it in pistols. 10 rounds, is .. well, not a lot, but enough for plinking.
In AR's, I can understand the use of the Beowulf mags. 5 rounds is just too little. Even for plinking.
But, if you find you can do it for your pistol, I'm all for it :)
