40 open

I am Playing with a 40 open gun running 135gr noslers & 138 gr frontieers at 185 pf it works comp quite well an have no feed issues .
Finally got loads worked out will start playing more when outdoor season starts. Nice thing don't have expensive brass to pick up or be scooped by range rats

i had an open in 40 10yrs ago for 2 yrs. before i came to canada. my only problem is to find a lighter projectiles ( 135gr. - 150gr. ) other than that it runs perfectly. in fact there is less torque in the 40. an easy to make major.

I had a hard time trying to get the 135 noslers, till I started to complain directly to Nosler , they arranged to have 5000 135 jhp shipped directly to a distributer then on to me cost $740 something. Then I aquired some 138 gr frontiers and went to see a friend who swagges hydrolicly and we put some through his 40-65 dies , they came out .401 nice shape and he only had to make a new bottom punch to stop putting a ring into the base. He puts a little swage lube on about every 10 and they come out perfect. Finny thing is that the 138's group even better than the Noslers at 20 yds
