Hi Guys,

Trying to decide between a Ruger KP944 and a Glock 22. I have looked at other options and narrowed down to Ruger/Glock. I have put my opinions against each brand. They are just opinions.
  • SIG/H&K Too high Canadian prices
  • Walther P99 Interested if available at ~ $700(US street price)
  • Taurus 24/7 Zero Customer Service in Canada
  • S&W M&P Slide cracks at 15k-20k rounds. Will wait a couple of years.
  • CZ 85B Hmm. Accurate. But, I don't like it.
  • Glock Simple design. Proven over the years
  • Ruger P-series. Every comment I have read says. Reliable. Built like tanks.

I know how the Glock operates and I will be installing a 4.5lb connector/NY1 trigger spring if I go with Glock.
Which has a better grip? Ruger or Glock?
Has the P-series got any problem with shooting in a side/upside down position?
Any shop here in GTA where I can try them both?

Thanks in advance.

Don't know where you heard that about the M&P, there is exactly one recorded case of that happening and it happened with an experimental aftermarket barrel. Nevertheless, of the 2 you have singled out, even if neither one fits your hand, Glock. Rugers are not in the same league.(I'm not a huge fan of Glock's version of ergonomics, but comparing it to a Ruger it's a match between 2, 2x4's anyway) There are much better pistols than both widely available. As far as side/upside down goes, get real, that won't be happening on a range, bears as much resemblance to reality as all those guys ordering the underwater firing pin cups for their Glocks.
PS The magazines don't tell you how ugly the trigger on a new Ruger can be

I know that I will never get into situation where I have to shoot upside down:) I asked that question because I was wondering whether it is due to the pivoting ejector on the P-series.

Oh, in that case, most factories do actually test for that, since in law enforcement situations it's been known to happen - and Government tests will include some stuff you wouldn't think plausible. Apologies for taking that the wrong way, but you wouldn't believe some of the dumb sh*t that we see here from time to time.

G35.

First of all, don't buy the Glock 22. Do yourself a favour and consider the Glock 35 instead. It has a longer barrel and is already set up for competition. All you have to do is get a Lone Wolf G35 [drop in] barrel so you can shoot lead bullets out of it.
If you get a super-great deal on the G22, you can always change the complete upper with the LWD G35 slide to get the extra length. The G35 already has the 3.5 pound connector. The New York type connnector makes the trigger harder to pull not easier, in the range of 7-10 pounds.
