Hi folks - I never wanted a pistol in 40 S&W but now maybe I do. But only if it's cheeeep. (I have "tier one" options in other calibers which will last several lifetimes, and frankly I enjoy tinkering to make cheap and cheerful machines run)

I'm aware of the current supply situation. What are the most economical options we've seen in Canada in 40? And what's out and about now?

Thanks!

There's a lot of pistols chambered in .40 S&W on the secondary market, and usually at a lower price than its 9mm counterpart. Probably because many have decided to dump the platform I guess? Glock 22 would probably be your best option. However, if buying new, then you are at the mercy of what is still in stock, which is to say, not much.

Thanks, I've always wondered about how those Sig clones hold up. Let me know what you think when you get it!

I've also seen well-used M&P40 come up for sale in the $450-550 range, even now during the panic. Glocks seem to have a higher "lower limit" to their used price, no surprise I guess.

Ellwood Epps has a bunch of new $300 .40 Hi points . Pretty much the definition of economy grade. I've been thinking about it. Free range brass and home cast powder coated 165 boolits . Might make an ok range plinker.

I ordered one of these Norincos last week. Haven't physically held one yet.

The Norinco SIG clones are surprisingly good value, especially if you don't mind tinkering.

Rod Giltaca posted a review on them on his Civil Advantage Youtube channel.

The only thing with them is that the mags, slides are not 100% compatible with SIG products and spare Norinco mags are hard to come by.

I bought a 5 gal. Pail of.45 brass; however, the top 2” were.45; the rest were 40 cal. So I bought a nork. Great looking gun, lots of feeding issues even after polishing ramps; bad trigger; but very accurate . Got a Jericho; just about as good as it gets.

Good to know. I also ordered a 9mm Jericho.

Hi point is about as cheap as it gets, but they seem to be pretty decent from what I hear. I have recently ordered one. 300 bucks brand new at epps. Made in USA I believe

Glock.

No, I don’t own one.

Nor do I ever see myself getting one.

But, for economy grade, you probably won’t find a better platform.
