I know I seen a thread on what powder seemed best for .40 s&w with 180 grain jacketed bullet on this forum but after 8 pages I give up looking.
Can you folks save me some trouble? post your opinions please.

Thanks

I've seen some data showing Longshot, Bluedot, and Titegroup as working well in this caliber. I'll be working up loads for all 3 early next year when I get back to shooting.

I'm loading 4gr titegroup under a cam-pro 180gr for my IPSC this weekend and the provincials. It shoots well for a production Glock 22.

I am seating to an OAL of 1.151". The bullets are truncated cone. I find the shells bind in my magazines if I seat bullets like these ones any farther out. That was really really frustrating one day.

vhit.n320, for major load-4.6-4.8 oal 1.180, for non 1911 gun 4.4-4.6, oal-1.126,all using 180gr bullet

I have been shooting for IPSC production and there is no benefit of loading any hotter than I am, but I'm a little curious what powders push bullets faster in a .40.

I have Unique, w231, Titegroup, and lil Gun for pistol loading on my shelf.. I bought lil gun for .30 carbine and .357 mag but I have seen a bit online about it for .40. I have done a couple fun shoots with 5.5gr of Unique and a 165gr bullet and they aren't really hot but have a little kick to them.

Just curious, I don't want to push things too much. I believe if you want to push it hotter, it's a good excuse for a bigger gun.

I use AA#7 (gotta a bunch cheap - though it can be hard to find) and Power Pistol for full house loads (Major PF) and for minor PF load i've used bullseye, 231 and right now am using Clays. I really really like clays in a minor load as it has a soft recoil impulse and is clean.

SAFETY NOTE : clays is a very fast powder and can be dangerous to push to full speed loads - use it only for low velocity stuff.
