I've been going with 5.6 grains of 231 behind a 180 FMJ. Great results. A bit heavy for what you want perhaps but great for IPSC.

5.6 of 231 and 5 of Bullseye sounds very hot. he was looking for a milder load.

I load 5.5 gr of 7625 under the plated 180 SWC because it is very accurate in my gun. Gives 925 fps in my pistol. Not exactly "mild".

If I was looking for a mild load, I would try a lead 180 bullet and 3.0 to 3.5 of 231.

Dragoon gave me this load. Very soft shooting and makes minor PF for IPSC Production and IDPA requirement. 2.8 gr of Titegroup under 180 gr Lyman Cast Lead SWC. Very accurate out of my Tanfoglio 5" Model "L". Economical as well.

I load 175gr. LSWC with 4.7gr. Bullseye or 5.0gr. Universal with phenomenal results! Accurate as hell and fun to shoot.
