40X day at the range

My most recent one is a 6br. This is the benchrest stock with the flat forend rather than the range master stock.
Came with two barrels. A 14T and the 8T shown in the picture. Haven’t shot it a whole bunch yet but the 105’s I’ve tried grouped nice at 100 yrds.

40X, this weeks edition. A 7.62 x 51 and a 22-250. 20230323_125628-1.jpg 20230323_145738.jpg And yes, that is an old Japanese Tasco 6-24 on the 22-250. Bought a few of those back in the 80's. 7.62 is wearing a Bushnell 4.5-30. 22-250 likes 55 gr ballistic tips over 760. 7.62 prefers 190 gr sierras over 4064. I think I'll take a different duo out each week. Weather was lovely, we hit 13 today. Little wind. - dan

I have always loved the way the blueing turns to that lovely plum colour on the great old Remingtons. Takes me back in time

This week took a couple of BDL varmints out, a 22-250 AI and a 6mm Rem. 20230405_131703.jpg 20230406_071916.jpg

Did some load testing with the 22-250 AI, found a sweet spot with 60 gr Speers and 760. Fireformed brass in the 6mm. It has a very minimalist chamber (barrel had a thread removed and the chamber recut sometime back), I think I will recut it to an AI version as I have another 6mm anyway. Anyway, another nice day at the range, and some enjoyable shooting. - dan

here is another classic. Rem 40-x, chambered in .244 rem, 1-12" twist. Leupold 36x fixed. I bought this rifle used in the early 80s and i've shot it quite a bit, so i have no idea how many rounds have gone down the pipe. It still shoots quite good, i'm hoping to (finally) try it on our new 500 yard range this year. Here is a pic.

i know this is an older thread, but hoping to find some help.
i have a collection of about 12 700 BDL varmint specials,i was hoping you might have good load recipes to share,i have all the calibers that were offered, missing the 25-06.,any help would be appreciated,
also looking for 6x47 remington dies and bass,i dont want to resize my 222 rem mag brass,

Had 2 Rem700 varmint HB’s in 243Win. Both loved 75g Hornady Vmax over a 1grain LESS than max load of Varget and sparked by Fed match primers. Loaded on a Dillon 550. Many ‘bad’ coyotes and crows were rehabilitated out to 500 yards.

Not too sure where you can find 6x47 brass these days. I got lucky and bought a hundred or so Federal off of a retiring BR guy quite a while back. Search ebay or similar maybe. I also have some resized 222 Rem Mag, that I will likely size back to 22. What cartridges are you looking for loads for? - dan
