.41 cal reloading?

I'm new to this. I have recently aquired a .41 Colt Thunderer with 100 brass and leads. I have the dies (Redding) but no press. I think I can find that locally though.
I read on here to use black powder but to watch not to have any air space. These leads are hollowed in the bottom. Is this going to affect anything? Is there different types of black powder? Also, what kind of primers do I use (are some better than others?)

There is a good chapter on reloading for the 41 Colt in Mike Venturino's Shooting Six Guns of the Old West. I've not reloaded for it myself, but enjoyed the chapter anyway.
 
As a matter of fact, Venturino's book is great reading for all of us who are involved with antique six guns. I have read and re-read my copy so much, I'm starting to wear it out.
 
The 41 Colt uses what's called a heeled bullet like a .22 RF I have some data in Ken Waters Handloader manual...........Harold
 
The only thing I had trouble finding was a case holder for the Lee primer.Ended up seating them with a piece of dowling. A little unorthodox but
it worked. Probably what the oltimers did.
