Mystic Precision is a site sponsor that can get a lot of that stuff. Send a PM to mysticplayer, he'll be able to tell you if he can get it and what the cost is. I have found them to be very good to deal with.
You can make them out of 38 special casings. Just run them through your 41 long colt dies, load and shoot. I do not temper mine, so some will split. I just chuck em. The advantage is 38 special is available and free. Also you can use speedloaders for 38 special with your fireformed 41 long colt brass, and your 38 special shellholder works better with 38 special then with the long colt. Slightly different head on them. Heres a pic. on the left are fireformed 38 special and on the right are new starline 41 long colt brass.
Fair comment…but let’s face it, some local suppliers are not that good unfortunately.
Part of the problem supporting local is if they can’t get something or only place an order once a year for what you want ,your out of luck. I try to support Canadian but can’t always do that either due to out of stock. Can’t find 41LC make it out of another case. I believe 38 special and 357 magnum is close. But some people are anal about having the correct head stamps on the brass.
I like to buy local and support Canadian, I searched a couple years ago go 41 brass. I called every gun store in BC, Yukon, Alberta and Saskatchewan. Luckily I found a lot in Sask so I quit looking.
The thing with niche items like this is that they are tough to find, and in a lot of cases very expensive compared to south of the border.
If you wanted to buy enough to last you the rest of your life it would be worth the import fee (if it’s still allowed to be imported) as it would be a lot cheaper.
I live in a small town, I’ve been looking for 44 special (2 stores near me and 1 an hour away) they want $82 for a box of 20. I’ll be buying it from another store in Canada and when I do it will be a lot too make it worth the shipping. Same principal. I support local when I can, when they have what I need and when the cost is reasonable, I’ll pay more but not go bankrupt over it.
