Add an M19 into the mix and you have the perfect trio! The M57 was my second big frame pistol after the M29, I always liked that caliber. I'd love to have one in a Blackhawk.
I have a couple M19's, a 2.5 inch and a 4 inch. Don't have a Marlin in the cartridge, sadly. - danAdd an M19 into the mix and you have the perfect trio!
Beautiful collection Dan. Do you have an 1894 Marlin in .41 to match?![]()
I really didn't notice much difference in recoil between the M57 and M29 but then again I was younger, tougher, and dumber back then so maybe there is a difference. The 41 magnum caliber is a cartridge that was sadly overlooked. It has close to 44 magnum power with substantially less recoil.
Will be a caliber I will own in a lever gun once Henry makes their current lever action carbine 41 magnum in a side gate model.
Who doesn't love the 41 magnum!........![]()
Slightly less bullet weight being pushed at like speeds, slightly heavier like model revolvers. Ergo, slightly less recoil. - danI really didn't notice much difference in recoil between the M57 and M29 but then again I was younger, tougher, and dumber back then so maybe there is a difference.
I'd love to have a lever gun in 41 mag though!
Not being a reloader, I was shooting factory 41 mag. Most of the ammo I could find (mainly Hornady) was actually loaded a little hotter, than a lot of standard 44 mag ammo. Granted, a lot of the standard factory 44 mag ammo (WWB, Fed AE) has been detuned somewhat.I really didn't notice much difference in recoil between the M57 and M29 but then again I was younger, tougher, and dumber back then so maybe there is a difference.

Very nice. I really like the 41 mag too. That custom Magnaport is pretty neat.
Had my eye open for a stainless Blackhawk but one never came up, so I decided to get out of the calibre before the end and sold my 8 3/8" 657 which I regret. A bigger regret was missing a 4" 657 unicorn that was classified restricted. I think that went to Twisted Canuck, so at least it is in good hands.
I regret selling it. If I had one or two others in 41, I might of kept it instead of the 629.Hi gdawg. Why excactly do you regret your 8 3/8" ?
Had a 30 for a while, muzzle blast was phenomenal with surplus ammo. Not much recoil though, so still fun to shoot. - danthat is one caliber I have not played with, Did have one in a RugerBH from a estate, but sold it before I got a change to try it.
There was also a BH in 30 cal.
