I have no experience with the older Savages... but would probably echo the above statement.
I do have a double badger. Had to send the first one back as the extractor was perma-jammed. Got a replacement. I do like the wood stock, but fit & finish is 'economy' grade. Shotgun works well and I bagged a few grouse with it last fall, including one on the wing. The 22 shoots way high. Even with sights adjusted to the full extent, it's 8" high at 50 yards and maybe 2" at 100 yards. not very useful
