I just read that a guy was firing .410 shotshells out of a .45 colt revolver?

Is this possible?

Not that I can see ANY practical reason for doing so.

Just a question.

A 410 in a 454 won't work (cylinder's too short), but there are a few 45-70 revolvers that are also intended to fire both 45-70 and 410; there are also a few revolvers and derringers that are intended to be used with both 45 Colt and 410s.

The new Taurus 44Ten is designed to shoot 45LC, 44-40 or .410 rounds. It is in ss finish and either 2 1/4in or 6 1/2in bbl. Naturally we will never see the 2 1/4in in this country. Unfortunately I dont believe it has been released into the US market at this time and we wont see it here until after that. It was due to be released in fall 2005 but I don't know the present status. Its on their site if you are interested..
Cheers
