Right, Barnes #1 lists 92gr Re15 & 300gr as max. Used that load in my 24" barrel .416 RM @ ~2950 fps mv with excellent results out to ~400m. Same load chronographs ~2910 fps from my 20" barrel. Rather like using iron sights see how it goes. Get as close as I can then 10m closer.

Intersting on the speed. My load was 91 grs. Produced 2950 in my 24” Sako. Cut two inches off later and it dropped to 2900. Have had a couple of Winchesters since. Been a few years since my last one but have another Sako cut to 22”. Lots of Rel. 15.

300gr TSX low 0.29 bc loses speed real quick. Figure I can back off a bit to ~2700 fps mv it will do nicely at closer range. Got 350gr MT's reduced load for practice.

I’ve sold my .458 and .375s. No need for dangerous game rifle now just a moose gun. Got some 400 Noslers, should be fine the intended use.

I know these are all handloads but are you aware of any factory 416 loads that offer lighter than 400grain offerings today? I know that Barnes used to load their 350 gr TTSX but I'm no longer seeing it listed on their website.

400-450 grain are all I'm seeing from the factory.

Shot one large bear with the 350 tsx, appeared to work very well. Two diagonal shots, no bullets recovered. Second round was insurance.

89.5gr of reloader 15 is sending the 300tsx at 2800 in my rifle. Pretty much puts three rounds in the same hole.

I havnt found an accurate load using the 350ttsx yet

Got lots of 340gr woodleighs to work up a load as well.

My rifle is a Winchester safari classic

Discovered today these .416 Rem Mag cases are done, re-sized many times: work-hardening caused necks to split, incipient case head separation - neck-sizing from now on.⚠️

Alliant 2400 charge +

  • increased 2400 charge to 40gr+polyfil with Speer 350gr Mag Tip ~1800 fps mv
  • also tried 43gr+polyfil 2400 with 300gr TSX ~2000 fps mv
  • ***non-published loads - low pressure loads safe in my rifle ONLY - NOT RECOMMENDATIONS
  • 100m groups not too bad could be low recoil plinking / hunting loads
  • installed Leupold 2.5x20mm in lightweight Talley ringmounts checked zero ready to go ✔️

Alliant 2400 charge ++

  • today tried 42.0gr 2400+polyfil with Speer 350gr & 350gr TSX
  • ***non-published loads - low pressure safe in my rifle ONLY - NOT recommendations***
  • accuracy not bad considering ~50% load density
  • low recoil .416 RM load gonna see how these perform in the field

Good shooting! Im excited to get my new to me 416rm up and shooting. I should have never sold the one I had a few years ago, but actually like my newone better…. Previously I shot 350g ttsx and 350g Sifft A-Frames with R15. Scary accurate. The new one will primarily be 400g a Woodleighs and 350g ttsx.
