.416 Rem powder

I've loaded a few for my son in law and to start with a manual I 'looked' at in the gunshop had loads listed for IMR 4320, amongst other powders. As I had IMR 4320 on hand, that's what I went with. Looking into things a little deeper since that time, it appears RL-15 is probably a much better choice and that's probably what I'll use next time.

In my 416rem mag I have been using Varget which is a tad slower then R15.I have been getting 2630fps with 350gr TSX,s and 2350fps with 400gr Hornady solids all out of a 22" bbl. Rifle has made one trip to Africa and worked perfectly with this load.I chose this powder in large part because it is not effected by temp. changes. Also because it is so versatile I us it in 223,22-250,260,308,and375 cal. rifles.

Well I have all except RL15 on hand . I already have my 400grain TSX and 400 grain Barnes Banded Solids. Just waiting for the new Barnes manual to come out so I can get some load data then it's off to the range for some trial rounds.

Got a friend with a 416 RemMag in NWT. He told me ReL15 is his fav powder for his Rem Custom Shop 700. I forget sure what bullets he's using though.
