Anyone out there done any amount of reloading for the 416 Remington Magnum? If so, and using a 400gr bullet(Hornady), any powder preferences? I took a guess & picked up some IMR 4320 to start out with.

I did some loading for mine when I owned one, a Ruger No1-H

416 Rem Mag Ruger No1 24"

300 gr. - Barnes X, 86.0 grs. Varget, CCI 250 ~ 2813 fps
- Barnes X, 86.0 grs. RL15, CCI 250 ~ 2754 fps
- Barnes X, 81.0 grs. H4895, CCI 250 ~ 2743 fps

350 gr. - Speer Mag Tip, 82.0 grs. RL15, CCI 250 ~ 2533 fps

400 gr. - Hornady Interlock RNSP, 76.0 grs. H4895, CCI 250 ~ 2405 fps
- Hornady Interlock RNSP, 77.0 grs. IMR 4064, CCI 250 ~ 2379 fps
- Hornady Interlock RNSP, 78.0 grs. RL15, CCI 250 ~ 2363 fps

My rifle had a long throat, so I seated them out closer to the lands. In your rifle, start low and work up slowly.

H4895, RL15, Varget = the best powder

I really liked the Speer 350 grain Mag-Tip, an excellent bullet!

Went to load .416Rem tonight and found that I have both 400gr Interlock and Interbond bullets.

Since I'm gearing up a load for moose this Oct. I went with the Interlock. It should be plenty.

My manual had a starting load of 76.5 and max of 81.4 for RL-15.

I built loads of 76 and 77grs to evaluate. :)
