Developed an accurate load for my 416 Ruger Alaskan using the 340gr MTH (Match-Tactical-Hunting) V15 Cutting Edge Bullet and Re15. This VLD bullet has a ballistic coefficient (G1) of 0.78 so it retains downrange speed quite well. Energy level at 500 yards is nearly 3000 ft-lbs.

Because of its long OAL the 340gr MTH round needs to be single-loaded. So a 340gr MTH round in the chamber and 3 350gr TTSX rounds in the magazine. 350gr TTSX POI is only about 1" low at 100 meters.

A ballistic reticle is needed to take advantage of the long range capabilities of the 340gr MTH load. My Nikon 3-9x has the BDC 250 reticle and is calibrated using the Nikon Spot On app as shown. Zeroed at 100 meters I used the calibrated reticle to hit the target pretty much bang on at 200 meters. A good general use heavy game rifle at any range.
