I think I am getting abut 1300 FPS with my 92 SRC. My dad killed alot of deer with a Cooey model 64 .22 semi 40grain bullet at 1250 fps vs 200 grain bullet at 1300 fps in the .44 WCF. I really hope people don't think I am "stunting" with the .44-40 I just like the old gun and I am gratefull I have an opportunity to put her back to work.
cheers Darryl
I don't think anyone thinks your stunting.
I think you, like me, have an appreciation for the old girls & like to see then used again. I personally carry my old girls more & more each year. Those old girls will & have done the job for years, it just takes a little more skills! All that said I still prefer to get the max out of them, I'm not sure they were loaded that mild way back at the turn of the century, I think that came along as we became more detached from guns as a tool & the liability issue kicked in from companys that were realizing they now had people that didn't know the strength diff between a Trapdoor kind of weapons & a new modern firearm.
This year I'm gonna carry a 38-55 & a 250sav some, next year I think I may try a 44wcfs or a 50-70, or a 45-60, or a 40-65, or a
