we have a Win. model 19 repro that shoots 44-40 and a revolver that shoots 44-40 now we all know how expensive the ammo can be at the local retailer about $65.00 for a box of 50 so I started looking for a company that is doing reloads, I did find the Bullet Barn in BC and they make a 44-40 but they are closing down for a couple of months and no stock available, our friends at custom reloading do not make a 44-40, there are a few and I mean a few online stores that have new 44-40 and most of them are higher priced than my local retailer (as high as $90.00 for a box of 50) by now my question is obvious, where can I find affordable ammunition locally in the Vancouver area or shipped, I'm fine with either as long as the price is better than what I pay now including shipping of course:)

Check out one of our sponsors CFRC / The Ammo Source.
They have some 44-40 @ 24.95 per box of 20. Keep alert for some of their specials and you could get a deal. I got a nice discount on .45 Colt ammo recently and they are great people to deal with.

Thank you for the tip, I think I'm at $27.00 for a box of 20 at my local shop, I'll keep an eye on their specials as I have to consider shipping cost too.

Check Rusty Woods. He is a sponsor and has some of the old stuff sometimes.

Like Yomomma said - reload. If you find yourself getting interested in obsolete or uncommon cartridges and firearms, then you can't afford not to reload. I reload 44-40 for well under $20/50.
I reload 458winmag for $10/20 and factory 458 starts at $70/20 and goes up from there.

thank you for the info, I have been on his site and he's at $90.00 for reloads, I know business is business but that's $15.00 more than the commercially available stock for a box of 50, I paid $79.99 tax in from my dealer

Does he nawt sell cast bullets?
Time to start reloading.
