44 cap n ball ball diameter question

I'm waiting for a transfer for a Pietta 1862 sheriff 44 I ordered the pistol with 100 balls .445 diameter I've read .454 should be used will the .445 work ?

I've a Navy Pietta... 0.451 seems to work good IIRC...0.445 seems a touch small.

I haven’t either?? I have some .451 for my 1860 I ordered the pistol and added the balls assuming they were correct I think I’ll phone and cancel them tomorrow

I wouldn't cancel your order, it is probably a misprint. Marstars are very honest people to deal with and would not sell a gun with a calibre that does not exist..445vs. .454, I think it is a typo error. I own 4 black powder revolvers in .44 cal. and have never come across this. For Uberti and Pietta revolvers in .44, .454 balls are preferred but .451 are acceptable. Best of luck!

0.451 work well in all my 44 caplocks. 0.445 is not a typo. I have a mould in that size for my muzzleloaders.

I am guessing for a rifle to load a patched bullet right?

0445 is for a rifle.
Never seen a revolver that used that size ball.

In my defense the .44 is a complicated caliber
44-40 .427,.429
44 mag, .430
44 BP ,451, .454
45 Italian .445 patched ball I should've known this one I had a CVA flintlock pistol back in the day
