I have owned them all, but Iam down to a 16” barrel Henry with skinner sights, In my opinion it is the best option out there, but I like the tube mag system and many don’t .
I use mainly the 44 Mag for dogging. The 77-44 is a slow shooting accurate rifle to 100 yards but for my WT hunt i do like my 44 Mag Rossi Hand rifle with a full stock or my Ruger 96-44, they just shoot faster with less move on a close proximity hunt. YMMV
I've had several.44 magnums over the years and I still like the ruger .44 carbine better than all I've owned.I like Chiappa Leverguns and have yet to see one with problems, and they are accurrate.they also have no stupid crossbolt safety,a lever gun doesn't need this safety .the take down models are even better.I would not buy another Marlin in .44 ,I find thry kick way too much and the least accurrate of sny.44 I've owned.
I've had the Ruger 77/44 that was a pleasant rifle to hunt with & it shot well with hardcast, but I've always preferred a lever rifle for hunting in the bush.
The Rossi 92's have been my go-to rifles as they handle the best for me and are fun to tinker on. I had 'em in 357, 44 mag, 454 Casull & 45 Colt. Me 45 Colt
Ranch Hand build be the one I kept.
I've had Marlin 1894's years back in 44 mag & 357 that sucked with hardcast loads thanks to that Micro Groove rifling. They moved on quickly. Never liked the
positioning of the lever pivot on them as it be weird feeling fer one hand carry. They do have easy scope mounting by design though for folks that prefer glass.
