does anyone know where can i find .44 magnum projectiles? i am looking for the lightest jacketed projectiles possible. will be using w296 powder for some nice muzzle flashes.

225gr FTX or 200gr Nosler, the 225 FTX should be readily available.

Edit: I have a few boxes of 245gr copper gilded Berrys bullets, if they suit your needs we can work something reasonable out. (I think they are Berrys, 245gr for sure)

The lightest ones I've ever found were 180gr Hornady XTP's from Wholesale Sports in Calgary. I use them on top of 31.5gr of H-110 which is supposed to be identical to W-296. Very fast, very loud. Makes people jump at the indoor range. Amazingly poor penetration at the outdoor range shooting full cans of club soda. The only problem is that I find the seating depth to be very inconsistent requiring a lot of tweaking and adjustment. The 200gr XTPs were even worse, basically had to reload them one at a time. Not bad for 6 or 12, gets real stale doing a 100.

i got 100 225gr FTX and 200 180gr XTPs from higginsons. i have w296 and winchester primers. what would be a good flashy load for my ruger? :)

Hodgdon lists 31.5gr of H110 and W296 as the max loads for 180gr XTP's.
I've loaded and fired 200rds at this level in Starline brass with Winchester LP primers through my 6-1/2" S&W29.
No signs of pressure, easy eject, pretty clean cases inside and out.
If you want a load that gets noticed, this works.
