I tried a search in this forum, and surprisingly did not turn up anything. I am looking for suggestions on bullets/projectiles for the .44 smith and wesson cartridge,I have brass coming (slowly) from Double Tapp and am getting set up for reloading. I have a lot of books on the subject but need to know the best place to get the bullets and if anyone has reloaded these, what worked best for you? Thanks in advance. Cheers Bob

I loaded some 200 gr RNFP cast .430 that I also use for .44 spl/mag.
Bullet Barn in BC is one source for them. My cases were the old balloon head cases made for black powder. The new starline brass will be better.....

.44 Russian cartridge is fun to shoot, & makes for a fine small game cartridge in my #3 Ruger....

Bullets that work in 44spl/mag work in 44 russian, too. Any .429 or .430" bullet should be OK.

I use 215 gr .430" cast bullets in mine.

Good info folks much appreciated, I understand lead only, is there any better quality/ easier on the bore than others? I want to shoot my .44's quite a bit but want to be gentle on the old girls!

Lighter bullets will generate less pressure and recoil than heavier bullets at the same velocity. In theory that should mean that there is less wear and tear. The 200-220 gr bullets and a light to medium powder charge should shoot well without undue wear. I use only soft cast lead bullets in my pre 1900 revolvers.
