I would like to shoot my Raging Bull 44. more often but find that after 50 rounds my hands have had it. So I was wondering if anyone knew where to get some Factory made 44. Special ammo in calgary or is this round mostly reload only?

WSS had some .44 special a while back. It was Remington Express and it cost more than their UMC .44 mag. loads.

the "smarter" thing to do is to get 44 mag brass and stuff 'em with 44 special or better loads- you'll pay BOTH an arm and a leg for 44 specials and unless your gun is chambered for specials only, it's an exercise in futility, as well as you get the much feared "GOOP" ring at the front of the cylinder- just another thing to clean-GET INTO RELOADING- your slugs are 59/1k at russels ,there's a host of loads you can use- all the way from mild to wild, and it's CONSIDERABLY CHEAPER- the minute you ask for any 44 loads, the ammo guys eyes light up as he knows you're paying a premium for the word magnum-

figured as much seems to be a pretty much an obsolete round and can defiently do more with magnum brass, got a few buddies who reload so can probably save the mag brass and have them reload some. Thanks guys just gives me some justification to purchase another wheel gun when im in short supply.

a better idea is to BORROW their equipment and load your rounds yourself- ie go over to their place anduse their press, but YOU supply the powder, primers, brass and bullets- HAVING SOMEONE RELOAD FOR YOU IS NOT A GOOD IDEA- just be sure and note where his powder measure is set and PUT IT BACK when you're done

We have some 44 Spl in stock. As pointed out though it is not cheap because it is pretty much a specialty round now.

"...and load your rounds yourself..." Yep. When it comes to handloads, trust nobody. Then load .44 mag cases to .44 Special velocities. Brass is easy to get and it eliminates the lube gunk build up in the cylinders.

You can enter the reloading game for cheaper than you think...for plinking purposes, Lee reloading products are very good value. Wholesale Sports or Higginson's Powder carries the full line - you don't need a dedicated workshop, you can even do it all with a handpress if you like...

nope i only get the one bucket every 10 months or so- i only do about 100 rounds a month, and it's not always 44- i have a 45 colt as well as the usual automatics- so, typically i have a bucket of each open and a bucket of each back-up- basically, with russels, if you're in the store and it's one the floor, pick it up- but don't depend on the handle
