.445 to .45ACP?

I assume that you meant .455 Webley. The question here is why? other than devaluing the revolver.
Brass is available as well as loaded ammunition.
Lee makes inexpensive reloading dies.
Replacing the cylinder will do the conversion if you really MUST do that.
Another common conversion some years ago was reaming and shaving the cylinder to .45LC since the .455 case and the .45LC case are identical in diameter.

it also advised that you reload only for the webley and download quite a bit from the 45acp loadings- informed sources say to the tune of 25%- the webly 455 fires a 260 grain slug at about 600 fps

As far as it being double action only, they started out as single & double actions. Then after a few years the British Army decided that double action only was the way to go. The ones I have seen were double action only as I think they are more common.

I seem to remember an article in a magazine about using 45ACP & moon clips in these. I could be wrong though.

Yes,thank you .455Webley.It was just a thought, finding a more common and cheeper ammo to use.
It belongs to a friend of mine, who got it in a trade and doesn't know much about it,But nether do I,so we were just kind of throwing ideals out there.

Thanks again,

Yeah, as mentioned above, I wouldn't use factory .45 ACP in one of these guns. You would have to handload light with lead bullets...in the end it wouldn't be much more work than handloading .455.

If your friend is thionking that he might sell it, he would proberly get a lot more if it is still in .455 condition.
Shaving the cylinder will ruin collecter value!

the smartest thing to do would be to buy a spare cylinder and extractor assembly, modify that for your 45acp and then switch it as needed- these things are dead easy to change cylinders on- just break it,unscrew the cylinder cam screw with a coin, push the cam lever up,pull the cylinder off- nothing to it- about the only thing easier is changing the cylinder on a single action
