.44mag bullet diameter

Hi! Just a quick question... I am reloading for a .44 mag and I am confused about which sized bullet to order. I see a .429 diameter and a .430. Are both sizes safe to use?

If I had to bet I'd go with the .430". One thou over has been good to me. Both are safe.

All of the Hornady on my shelf says 0.430" on the package.

If you are loading for a .44 magnum revolver, for the best accuracy the bullet diameter needs to match the diameter of the cylinder throat rather than the groove diameter. The more uniform the throat of each chamber is, and the more closely the bullet fits that throat the more accurate the gun is.
