45-60 Win with IMR 3031 Powder

I'll begin with a disclaimer that I have never owned or shot a rifle chambered for this cartridge.

I think you may find that the case capacity is exceeded before you have realized the velocity you would like to see if you were to load with 3031. From the comments in Cartridges of the World, it sounds like this round should not be hot-rodded due to the strength of the rifle design and the limited strength of the cartridge case itself. I would stick to powders consistent with 4198's burning rate and not exceed 1400 fps with a 300 gr bullet or 1350 with a 350. I would use only cast bullets.

Check out the 49th edition lyman reloading manual there are 3031 loads in it for the 40-65 if I remember

You mixed up the zero and five.;) No loads for the 45-60 and the loads for 40-65 are more geared for the single shots with the bullet weights they list.
...and sorry, I've only used IMR 4198 in my 76's.
