45-70, 300 grain campro load data?

Had an older gentleman, he was 83, that had a Henry in .45-70 and wanted something very mild to shoot.Used 7 grains Titegroup with a 300 gr Cam-pro and it shot like a .38 special out that heavy rifle. He loved it but I swear you could see the bullet traveling down-range.I never shot this combo over a chrono but it must have been slow.He passed sadly so I never got to do any testing.I was skeptical about doing this combo with a fast powder and a heavy bullet but he insisted I try it and it's in no reloading manuals. But it was his rifle and he's been shooting all his life and I had the dies so we tried it.Had a few guys at the range try it also and they were surprised.I wouldn't hunt with it but it was easy on the shoulder.

I know you mentioned tight group but if you have Unique powder there is lots of load data using it in the .45-70 for light loads. They make for very economical, well proven and just plain fun loads. A pound of Unique will give you a lot of loads.
The biggest precaution is to ensure you don’t double charge a case and don’t push it for higher velocities.
