45/70 barreled Martini Questions

Absolutely, if it is in decent shape and the action is tight, the Martini is quite a strong action action compared to the Trapdoor.

I have a Martini in 45-70, I've had it for 35 yrs. most loads were IMR 3031 45 grs. with a 330 hp cast lead ( hard lead )bullet
No signs of stress and very long case life.
Extremely accurate rifle.
I have loaded it heavier, but it was not necessary.

My Mark III martini sports a 45/70 bull barrel and it handles factory loads very well.
It also likes cast bullets and can punch a 325 grain bullet out at 1700 fps with no signs of pressure.
One issue with the Martini is to get a Mark III that has a bushed firing pin for 303. This allows higher pressure smokeless powder loads while supporting the primer.
