45/70 Muzzle Velocity for a 22" barrell

I was asked the other day what the muzzle velocity is of a 4570 Marlin 22" barrell. Does anyone know the answer to this question or where to find out this info? The Marlin site I found doesn't have much on this topic.

This website answered my question? Thanks for looking.

Your question is a bit like asking, "How long is a piece of string?"

The web site you gave came a long way from answering your question. They showed a 405 grain bullet at 1900 ft. per sec. This load would blow many of the older guns on the market to kingdom come!
Thus, factory loads show the 405 grain bullet at a maximum of 1450, but more likely will be closer to 1300, or maybe even 1250.
The 45-70 is a very popular cartridge for reloading and reloaders will load anywhere from 1000 fps to 2000 with a bullet of about 405 grains.

I was shooting 405 grain factory loads the other day. I gues the question should of been directed at a particular round. Here's another question do the 450 marlin dies fit the 45/70 brass to reload? The two bullets are the same length, a friend of mine reloads and wants to give me the 101 on reloading my 45/70's.

From my guide gun with a 405g remigton and 55g H322 I chrono at 1925fps.

We just have to be careful our heavy loads don't end up in a Springfield Trapdoor.
I have to be particularily careful, because I have an original Trapdoor and I sometimes shoot it!
To the question about the dies, the answer is no.
