45-70 to 450 nitro express

I'm looking at picking up a ruger no 1 in 45-70 and was wondering if it would be possible to have the chambered reamed to 450 nitro express. Seems like it would be doable. Anyone here done this conversion before?

Didn't they make a #1 on 450 like 8 years ago or something? For some reason I have one in my head.

I have seen the 450/400 nitro express. Prophet river has some in stock now. I can pick this no 1 up at a good price and though it would be cool to have one in 450.

They made a run of 450 Nitro as well in the Boddington series. We sold several back when they were made and actually just managed to get one in for a customer in Ontario a few weeks ago. Last I looked there was still one available. Be about 2800.00 though. Has upgraded wood, checkering, sights and finish is matte . 'The Elephant'

To answer your question, .....yes, it can be rechambered to .450, and is reasonably common.

If I remember right, the .458 requires a setback on the barrel.

Not sure if it's doable or not but 450 Rigby should satisfy many.
