Whats a 45/70 "used" worth these days? I was looking for a cheap cheap :D 45/70 for brush gun. I liberated a whole lot of 45/70 ammo plus all the reloading componants.

Edited by mod- new rules on the swearing Norseman, just a reminder.

I think you can get a new H@R Buffslo hiunter for about $500.
They are not as strong as a 1885 or Sharps, however, but will handle full power BP loads no problem.
My friends shoots 5 shot into about 3" woith cast huntiing bullets but is very accurate with a cast target bulet....

Yup,

.45-70's are VERY in demand these days. Usewd ones are going for very near the price of new ones.

The best prices ive seen in Canada on the GG's are at SIR. I think it was $709 for a new 1895GS (Stainless). You can't beat that, as used ones are going for $700-$800 here on CGN.

I just bought one and LOVE it. Buy one NOW, as the new Canadian Marlin shipment came in a few weeks ago and they fly off the shelves.

Priced right a used rifle in .45-70 doesn't sit on the EE very long before someone buys it. Very desireable, which is ironic considering it's been around as long as it has... :D

SIR sells the NEF 45/70 I have one with a scope mount and 2x banner on it , great gun to have shoots factory remington stuff nice ,short kicks like hell. A great gun for the price and fits well on the front of my Rokon when I am out for a ride.

FYI there a few different designations that Marlin sells; I've got the new Russell Sports catalogue in front of me.

Model 1895SS $589.99. This is the plain blued steel 22" barrel jobby, but the same great action as the vaunted "Guide Gun".

1895G. Guide Gun, blued action and 18.5" barrel. $599.99

1895GS. This is the "in demand" gun, the stainless barrel and action. 18.5" barrel of course. $719.99

1895 Cowboy. 26" hex' barrel and blued action and barrel. $769.99

So these guns are really pretty cheap unless you go for the SS or Cowboy models. Under $600...

Of course you could get all sentimental like and....
