What kind of primers should I use for pistol rounds?

I have a box of Winchester small rifle primers and noticed that they fit, I was just wondering if I would be able to use these or would they be to weak or to powerful?

Regards,

Never use Small Rifle primers in pistol ammo unless the manual specifies it. They are designed to have a hotter flame and longer duration for igniting the powder in rifle cartridges. The primer cup is probably thicker as well, which could lead to misfires or hangfires.

45ACP and 9mm use different size primers, in most cases.

9mm = small pistol primer
Most 45ACP = large pistol primer (the exception being WinClean, which uses SP primers, I believe.)

the last few thousand ive made up have been:
CCI 500 primers
4.0gr of tight group
pushing a 115gr winchester FMJ

no problems...and very cheap
