Hey guys. I'm considering to start casting for my Glock 21. Whether I use the factory barrel or buy an aftermarket barrel has yet to be determined so we don't need to talk about shooting cast bullets in Glocks. It has been beat to death already. My question is, what mould would you recommend? I would be shooting steel primarily and only for entertainment, nothing serious. Was thinking a lighter weight bullet would be nice. Say 185-200 grain, but what type? I welcome your input. Thanks.

I use the Lee TL452-230-2R mold for both my 45ACP and 45 Colt. It's a 230gr RN and has multiple shallow ribs for use with LLA tumble lube.

I've always had good results with it, so I haven't tried anything else.

^^^^^^Yup pick up a 6 cavity or 2 Lee mold in you choice of weight some Liquid alox or dragon lube and bang away. Id go for a 6 cavity, now that I have used them ill never go back

I agree on the 6 cavity mold. My 452 is a 2 cav, but my 124gr 9mm mold is a 6. Speed is almost 4 times faster when you account for the time it takes to open the sprue plate, drop the bullets into the water, reset the sprue plate, and pour again.

Using the 6 cavity mold, I dropped 607 shiny bullets into water in about 45-50 minutes.

I can see how a 6 cavity mould would be very beneficial. What about bullet type? RN, SWC, etc, when it comes to consistency/accuracy? Does it really matter what shape the hole is you're pouring the lead into when it comes to casting consistent bullets?

The 230gr RN is the most common in 45ACP. When I was purchasing bullets I had decent results with the 225gr TC style, but I have heard that some 1911's don't like TC.

For reliability, round nose all the way. I do like clean cut holes though so SWC will be better for that.

In my 1911 it feeds perfectly with RN, but has some issues with swc's I got when I got into reloading 2-3 years ago. Ive only tried 150 225gr(i think) TC but had no feeding issues with them. If I get another mold from Lee for my 45 it will be a TC.

I also have a 200gr round nose flat point meant for a 45 colt that has the odd feeding issue, but not enough to bug me. Just have to seat it deep enough.
Here is a picture of them powder coated and loaded in steel cases.

I have purchased 2 lee molds, one was pure junk 5/6 cavities were far out of round. I then bought 2 NOE molds and they are fantastic. I have a 6 cavity 200gr SWC mold from NOE that casts perfect boolits every time and a joy to use. Accurate and 100% reliable in my Sig 1911. h ttp://noebulletmolds.com/
