So...I'm making up a few kits that will take a mag adapter and use 1911 mags to feed. Wondering what length of bbl people would like to see. Kit including mag adapter, extraction stud with a 14" bbl and bbl nut. Buyer will need to supply an action and stock as well as the 1911 mag. The bbls will install ala savage with a bbl nut and ar stock nut wrench These kits will be very easy to install by the end user.

Will look like this depending on how you finish it:

Any interest?

very interested, by kit do you mean i finish it? or i send it to you and for 350$ it comes back looking like the pic(i mean finished not all pretty like that)?
i have a rifle i would convert
and 15" barrel keeps it non-restricted, right?

Make up a non resricted Delisle Carbine kit and Ill take one probably 2or 3.It would of course be a look alike only.Dave.

Parts kit only at the price mentioned. It would be non-restricted.

Cheers

i'd probly be into one (i have a #1 sporter that needs some work)

whats the shortest barrell you could go with and still be non-res. 12.5"??

I have only ordered 2 mag adapters, I will make the bbls myself. If anyone wants to preorder please let me know as it appears the 2, I have on order won't last long and I'm keeping one. ;-)

I have 2 actions on the way to me so I might have a cheap action for sale as part of a kit. They are both No4 actions.

yeah, I'd definitely be in for a Delisle clone...same length and style as the original with a fake can, built on a No1 action. Would buy that in a second.

Are you boring out old enfield barrels

Just curious but is that how you are making them? Last thing will the cartridge gain much velocity from th increase in barrel length?

The magazine adapter is the hard part, the ejector would be desireable, the barrel is pretty straightforeward.
Not much difference between a SMLE and a No. 4 from the barrel standpoint for a project like this. It is possible that one model of barrel would work with either, given how these are being breeched up. Magazine adapter would need to be adapted, SMLE and No.4 magazines are slightly different in dimensions.
I would suggest three options:
Offer a complete kit.
Offer the magazine adapter and ejector.
Offer the barrel and lock nut.
I bet that you will be able to sell a LOT more of these than you suspect.

For those talking about a Delisle reproduction - there is MUCH more to an accurate repro. of a Delisle than just a .45 barrel on a Lee Enfield. Mudpuppy hasn't posted on CGN for a while, but he has described what it takes to make a Delisle repro. in detail. It is a challenging project.
No reason that a tubular handguard could not be installed, in lieu of a conventional forend, though. It would take an eccentric bushing over the barrel nut, but that would be no big deal.
