Heres What can happen to a Webley 455 cut to except 45 ACP with moon clips if your not Carefull.

These were obviously hot hand loads as this was a webley MKVI
now picture the same mistake in a MKI or MKII 45 ACP Converted Webley. Tho with comon sence and care this can be avoided. But watch your 45 ACP ammo dont get mixed up ;)
I stole these pics from another site.

I wonder if they were using standard factory ammo and thusly destroyed the gun that way. FMJ reloads?

Generally you load with black powder and cast lead bullets...not copper jacketed FMJ's

Plus the inside of the casings appear to have factory sealant in them.

OK heres more info The gun was brought over from England in 1946.

In 1989 the damage was done NOT by Reloads but he loaded a mixed head stamped factory ammo the one that exploded was a WCC 85 Match What ever that is i dont shoot 45 ACP.

No one was hurt the shooter was fine but the woman standing next to him had the bill of her hat ripped right off her head

I think id be buying a lotery ticket if i were her.

Not a good idea. I think she used up all her luck
for a while.

It was probably Winchester Cartridge Company WCC 185gr Match...High pressure loads for sure...far too high for a webley.

Never shoot factory ammo in an antique...period

I wish I new where I could get a new ejector for mine. The thing broke where the small locater pin goes through. Dont know why it happened it just did. Was shooting .455 mild reloads.

Kerry Jenkinson in Grand Forks, B.C is a former British cavalryman and a gunsmith who once was a Webley employee. I think he is probably as good as it gets for knowledge and experience working on Webley's. He also imports .455 brass etc.

He doesn't believe in computers... (250) 442-5718

BTW, a Webley schematic from the Patterning Room, for anyone who is interested:
