45 ACP Revolver

I love shooting my 625-8 S&W!
Really wakes up the guys at the range when they see those moonclip-caged 45ACP empties come flyin' outta the cylinder and another popped in!:D

Taurus makes/used to make a Tracker model in .45ACP

Yup, they do. And since they aren't the POS they were years ago, I haven't had any trouble with mine what-so-ever. Well, except keeping it fed.

The thing that sold me with the Tracker (aside from the look and savings over the S&W which I couldn't afford at the time) was that you can shoot it without the moon-clips. Just need a pencil to push the spent cases out since the extractor no longer works without the clips. It's just easier to reload and push them out than to reload the clips in the first place.

45 wheel guns are so much fun to shoot and since I reload for 45's anyways, it's even better. Now all I gotta do is get some 45-AutoRim cases and I'm all set. :)

I also use a S&W 625 in IPSC the moonclips are an awsome way to go ,not Jerry speed yet but I can hold my own most of the time . If you have trouble there are are a couple different tools to help . I don't really have trouble loading the clips but I did buy a De-Mooner for removing the empties , it now only takes a couple seconds to empty the full moon . As far as the polymer clips go ,they are under the name RimZ , they are very expensive and have a limited shelf life and don't react well with getting roughed up on the range floor ,some also have trouble retaining the rounds in them if they are bounced arount too much ( read running down range ) and can sent your extras scattering across the bay . Just my experience.

I don't know about all S&W .45 ACP, but with my M1917 you can shoot .45 ACP without the moon clips too.
Since the groove below the rim is still exposed, you don't need a pencil and you can pry them out pretty fast with a piece of metal.

I have the polymer clips. I love them. However, I only use them for target practice or plinking. They even warn you not to use them for self defense reloading or competition shooting because of the rounds possibly coming loose in the pouch. They have their purpose though and they serve it very well IMO.

My misfit model 28 turned 25 in 45acp is good fun. It usually suprises the guys when they see and hear it go off. It also suprises them how accurate a 3 inch bull barrel revolver is.
