What's the difference between .45 auto and .45 acp. I've heard that they're the same cartridge, but I'd rather know for sure than not have any fingers.

Don't want to be a killjoy or anything but, out here on the prairie, they are exactly the same, always have been! GAP is something totally diff.

"45 auto" is a shortened form of "45 Automatic Colt Pistol", which can also be shortened to "45 ACP." They're one and the same.

ETA: By "shortened" I mean just the name, not the cartridge itself. :D

Geebus... my apologies.
I musta read too quick... I thought he was asking wether or not 45 auto was the same as 45gap:confused:

45acp... 45gap....

They sorta look similar...?

Don't they?

'Anyone recommend a good optomatrist???

667, it doesn't sound like you aren't following your signature rules! What happened to:

Admit nothing.
Deny everything.
Make counter accusations...

You admitted you were wrong.
You didn't deny it.
And there was no counter accusations!

What gives? When I started reading this thread and your first reply and sig line I thought "this will be good!" What a downer! :runaway:

ACP-Automatic Colt Pistol GAP-Glock Automatic Pistol

They sorta look similar but the GAP is a tad shorter......nah, you don't need an optometrist. You were testing us werntcha? But you'd never admit to it...;)

Uh.... yeah, that's it.

Glock wanted to call their 45 ctg "45 AGP" but the SAAMI said it should be 45 GAP to avoid confusion with the 45 ACP.

Stars on .45

Guess it really matters if you pick up a piece like a Webley .455 that's been modified to shoot both a .45acp and a .45LC.(not the same piece, obviously!) Saw some of these posted at a local shooting range.

P.S. for those who have Webleys or Colts and S & W's that shoot the .455 Eley(Ely?) cartridge, how hard are they to get and will I have to sell my children for medical experiments to be able to afford to shoot it?
