45 Auto rim

I came across several hundred 45 Colt cases trimmed down to 45 Auto rim for a Webley. The revolver that I sm using is a Ruger Redhawk 45 ACP/Colt so pressure is not an issue. I am looking for some help with some load data. I will be using a Lee cast 200gr SC with either Unique, Bulleye, or Black Powder. Help would be greatly great.

Auto rim is nice to use in a 45 revolver. Use the same loading data as for 45ACP. With a 200 gr lead bullet I use 6.0 gr of Unique.

BUT, if it is trimmed for a Webley, the rim would have been thinned I think. Now the wrong size to use as Auto Rim, I think.

But a Webley owner would be thrilled to have it.

Something isnt adding up, you cant make auto rim from 45 LC cases, you probaly have something along the lines of 45 cowboy special. 45 auto rim has a rim almost twice as thick as the colt case, this is to mimic the moon clip used in shaved 45 acp webley cylinders

Measure the rim. If it is still normal thickness, you can use them in your 45 acp cylinder. Any 45 acp data will work. I use these in my 1917's and 1955. - dan

I just worked up some 45 autorim loads for my S&W 625. Wanted a nice mild load that would be accurate and use up some 200gr lead SWC bullets I had. The 3.6gr Clays load worked out great.
