I bought some hard cast SWC 45 bullets from a chap at the gun show the other day. He had them bagged and marked .451. They actually measure .450. Question is can I use these bullets for 45 Colt as well as 45 ACP? Usually the bullets I use for 45 Colt measure .454. I have never slugged a barrel and I don't know if it is necessary to do so.

They are clearly undersized 45 ACP bullets. The 45 Colt (aka 45 LC) typically has a bore size of 0.452" and works well with 0.452" up to 0.454" cast bullets - the bigger the better as long as it will chamber.

All that said, I suggest that those bullets likely won't shoot well in 45 Colt and would be iffy in 45 ACP.

Just like Andy said, probably won't be as accurate as ones .452+, if they're not to hard they could be bumped in a .452" sizing die, probably best to scrap the lot. Using bullets that are too small can really contribute to barrel leading. I would measure a few of any bullets I bought, cast or condom type.
