I am curious if anyone has successfully done this before, but here is the idea....

I purchased a Dlask Arms TUFF 22 last summer for gophers. I topped it with a 6-24x50 Vortex Diamondbck Tactical. Although that's a nice set up for long bombing gophers, you always seems to have shots at 5-15 yards. The idea I have, is attempt to mount a 45⁰ picatiny rail mount, under my scope on the integrated rail, then run a low profile red dot and sight it in for 10 yards for any close up shots.

Any recommendations on budget friendly red dot sights and 45⁰ mount?

I have one of my gopher guns set up like this. It works fine although it doesnt get as much use as I thought that it would. On the scope mount I have (warne ramp) with integrated 45 degree rail anything bigger than a micro dot such as an rmr would bump into the scope housing. So look out for that. If you have room for something bigger the bushnell trs-25 is a great cheapo red dot.
