Looking to pick up a 45 on a budget, SAM or Norc. Haters need not reply. Just wondering whether the norc 45 high cap has anything to do with the actual pistol or is it just a long mag?

Thanks!

As stated in the Marstar ad,

Norinco NP-30 'High Cap.' .45 ACP

Enjoy the reliability and ergonomics of the 1911A1 series with the higher capacity of a double column magazine! Thinner grip panels and a wider forged steel frame maintain the grip of the original but with ten round mags

The capacity of a 1911 can only be increased by using an extended single stack magazine, or by a double stack as mentioned in the ad. I have no idea of the availability or cost of these double stack magazines. Since you can only have 10 rounds, you might want to consider a normal single stack in which you can use some of the extended ones, as well as regular magazines.

I have a np-30 double stacked 45, it only take the factory mag I have never been able to find another mag that fits and if I rememer about $50 a mag, so if you dont have to meet certain specs to fit in the box a single stack with the long mag is the cheaper way to go

Great info guys thanks! May as well go with a single stack so if i want thinner grips that wont be a problem (ive got medium/small mits haha)

Anyone know where extended mags are available?

The term " Hi-Cap " is usually used in double stack magazine pistols that before the 10 round limit held 16 or more rounds. Para-Ord was one of the first in Canada to make them & started out by making just a high capacity frame that accepted the rest of the parts ( slide etc ) from a donor 1911 pistol.

The grip is larger than a single stack mag pistol to take the wider mag.

Since 10 round mags are readily available for a standard, single stack 1911 , buying a wide frame pistol that only takes hard to find wide mags is somewhat pointless. But then it is a matter of personal choice.

i have a pair of nickel norcs, "hi cap" i bought for the finish, i have med/large but not giant hands, and i like the way they feel...BIG!
i also have extended 10 rnd mags for my regular 1911, bought mine at SFRC, better for smaller hands....

Right on, do you go to the North Peace R&G Club range much? With weather like this their indoor is a god send

I have a 10 rnd single stack for my STI and a Para HiCap. I like the fatter grip on the HiCap better. I don't like the extended mag sticking out from the bottom as far as it does. i was thinking about a Norc HiCap but I found the Para on the exchange here. I'mv very happy with it.
