I can't seem to find anything larger than a 225gr in a 45 lead cast. I saw some 45 Long Colt in a bigger weight. It appears to be the same dimension. D:eek:es anyone have experience putting 45LCs into a 45 acp case? WHere it comes to stuff exploding in barrels, I would rather learn from other people's mistakes.
Thanks,
Ron

Modern .45 Colt bullets are .451 same as the ACP. Older bullets or moulds may be .454. Check your load data before trying to load heavy slugs in your ACP.

The big problem with the 45ACP is the wall taper and the short "neck" area. There are special tapered base bullets in weights larger than 230.

I've tried loading 45 colt 255gr lead bullets in the 45ACP case. Moslty the case wouldn't hold thme properly. I tried sizing them down, but they still didn't work. Bulged and buckled cases were the result.

I did manage to get some to work, but I had to load so slowly and carefully it wasn't really worth it.

I have seen some heavy 45 ACP bullets, they taper down to a cone shape at the base.
